Welcome to d-motif.net, the portfolio site for me, Douglas Beard. My business is to create websites for you or your company that are graphically exciting,full of hard-hitting content and descriptive of your needs. My goals are to create a clean, sleek, fun feel for those who visit the site that we create. After all, you the client. will participate in the process and have an impact on the final product that we, together, create to represent you, or your company. Through the use of Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects,Dreamweaver and cascading styles i'm able create clean looking layout, similar to what you see here.
Video Editing
Working with Adobe After Effects to create web video content has become a new outlet for our creative talents. The workflow from all of the Adobe products leading into After Effects is seamless. This past spring I created my first 30 second video called "New Life on Mars." All of the images were edited in Photoshop, then brought into After Effects to give them motion. The combination of these products can be seen in the video on the right.
HTML and CSS
For fourteen years I have been experimenting with HTML. Learning the basic in the late nineties and forming a complete understanding now, has been a rewarding learning process. The joining of HTML and Cascading Style Sheets, has been a great journey also. In the past 5 years I've learned how to create and style tableless HTML documents by using CSS. Pure CSS menus, image dimensions, and background alignments have added to my design aesthetics. Placing an element on the exact pixel is a designers dream come true, and I would like to thank Owen(from England) for the nudge to learn CSS.
Sound
Sound and music creation are another aspect of our work. Using Cubase, Reaper and Adobe Soundbooth allows us to ceate unique musical backgrounds for your project. I Come from a rock and roll background that led me into the sounds of electronic music like Art of Noise. Below you can hear a sample of my work using Cubase and virtual instruments. Live sound and recording on the spot are also possible.
Green Screen
While attending Harrisburg Community College I was introduced to the green screen which was a wonderful experience. Proper lighting, microphone placement, sound board control, and video recording are the technological tools that will be valuable as the future unfolds. The green screen is a feature tool for any advertising, or multimedia endevor. We are able to use Adobe After Effects along with Adobe Premiere to enhance and edit your final product for many video formats, with web based media being the focal point.
